OUR SCHOOL

Bridgewater Academy is a public charter school. We are a tuition free public school that has the flexibility to be more innovative while being held accountable for advancing student achievement.

We offer creative learning environments that allow students to learn, collaborate, explore and showcase their talents. We are constantly looking for and implementing experiences that improve the educational experiences of our students. We strive to make relevant changes that empower our students with 21st century problem solving tools and skills.

Bridgewater Academy students are required to take the same state standardized tests as other South Carolina public school students.

As part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Bridgewater Academy receives federal financial assistance (Title I Program). This helps to ensure that our students meet challenging state academic standards.

About Our Principal:
Dr. Sherry Pinto

My name is Dr. Sherry Pinto and I am so happy to be the Principal of Bridgewater Academy!

I have been an educator for over 24 years. I am originally from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and started my educational career as a residential science teacher in Carteret County. After that I became a high school science teacher in Craven County and then went on to become an assistant principal and ultimately a certified administrator in both North Carolina and Maryland prior to relocating to South Carolina and receiving my certification here in the Palmetto state.

I have also been a Professional Developer in the state of Maryland and enjoy providing professional development to the staff here at Bridgewater to help our students and staff be the best they can be each and every day!

I love being an Eagle here at BWA! I enjoy being with the students every day! What makes me happiest is watching them grow and learn: that is why I do this job!
